About HR Hair Extensions

Our business is just hair extensions which means that unlike salons all we do is fit extensions, the benefit of this for you the client is that we are more experienced and quicker than most hairdressers who may only fit extensions once or twice a year. We also like to keep up to date with the newest fitting methods. We are fully trained in Fusion (hot glue), Sewn in Wefts, Shrink Tube and Micro Ring (no heat) bonding. The latter two are the most up to date hair extension techniques. All techniques involve strands of hair being attached to your own hair by a bond no bigger than a grain of rice. We like to offer more hair extension choices to our clients as some prefer not to have a heat method.

It is also possible to just put highlights in your hair there is a vast choice of colours.

We offer a free consultation before the hair extension fitting so you can find out everything you need to know about what is involved before deciding whether to go ahead and what hair extension method would suit your needs the best. We will discuss all your requirements with you, answer any questions you have, and colour match your hair for the perfect extension colour. Please note unlike some extension services we will blend more than one colour to achieve a perfect match at no extra cost to you.

The  hair used for all hair extension methods is 100% cuticle correct remy human hair. The hair I use originates in India as I find that the texture and weight of this hair is more like European hair. Chinese hair is also used by some but I find this is too straight and coarse. I use 2 types of remy hair - first a standard remy which is very good quality, this will be from multiple donors and will therefore have been processed many times to get it to be all one shade, it is made up from different lengths of hair and tapers at the ends. The second type is virgin temple hair, this is collected from one donor when it is shaved at temple ceremonies, it will only have been processed once so is very good quality. It will also have a uniform wave and the ratio of long to short hair is less.

Around 200 bonds make up a full head of extensions. Beware of people offering a full head for a bargain price - this usually means you will be getting a half head. Extensions should cover your whole head not including the top, there should be no bonds missing.

Half head fittings are available but please note these are for volume only.

Method One - Fusion Bonding.

In this hair extension method strands of hair are attached to your own hair using keratin glue, On all the outer bonds around the hairline I will use half size bonds so if the hair is worn up they are harder to detect. The normal size bonds are no larger than a grain of rice. This hair extension method is suitable for most healthy hair types and will last for up to 3 months. It will provide an undetected freefall and natural effect.

Method Two - Shrinktubes

For this hair extension method hair is pulled through small plastic tubes which are colour matched to your hair. The extension is then attached by heating the tube gently until it shrinks around your hair and the extension to create a tight bond. The bonds are again no larger than a grain of rice. This method is suitable for most healthy hair types and will last for up to 3 months. It will provide an undetected freefall and natural effect.

Method Three - Micro Rings

These hair extensions are attached with tiny rings that come in several colours for a close match to your hair colour. they come in different sizes for different hair textures. They are made from either specially formulated polymers or nickel. Both of these are used with a tool similar to a crochet hook that pulls a strand of your hair through the ring. Another tool is used to clamp the ring tight to hold the hair in place.

This is a great hair extension method that does not use glue or heat. It is not recommended for hair that is very fine or very short. It will provide an undetected freefall and natural effect and last for up to 3 months.

Method 4 - Sewn in Weft

This method uses wefted hair sewn on to tracks made using micro rings. Many places offer this but sew the wefts onto cornrows, this can damage european hair as the braids are very tight. The method I use does no damage to the hair. This is a great method if your hair is short and gives a lovely natural fall of hair. It lasts for 3 months but if the hair has been treated well it can be re-used.
